Description of the event
An exhibition of lesser-known photographs by Libuše Jarcovjáková and large-format canvases by Libuše Dlabola Pražáková. In their work, both artists seek ways to cope with expectations and social pressure. They document relationships, interpersonal happiness and human existence. Curator Lenka Patková selected 40 original vintage prints by Libuše Jarcovjáková and supplemented them with ten new prints from scanned negatives and more than twenty large-format canvases by Libuše Dlabola Pražáková.
The name Kokoro comes from Japanese and refers to the intelligent heart that communicates with our innate wisdom and responds to the world in the present moment. It is the source of our innate wisdom – wisdom that we carry deep within ourselves, untainted by social pressure, expectations, or the opinions of others. Kokoro can help us to sensitively manage our relationships and choose a path of freedom in life through the immediate decisions we make every day.
The common denominator of the works is images of memory, changing moods, fleeting moments, subjective documents with autobiographical features, and a desire for truth. Both authors document personal feelings and specific situations. The result is reflections of the collective past projected onto the canvas of individual memory. An artistic dialogue offering the embodiment of the beneficial principle that everything has its time, that precious interval, complexly defined between "too soon" and "too late".
The exhibition is part of the ArtWeek Liberec programme
