Architecture Day

The PLAC Association invites you to the 14th annual Architecture Day festival in Jablonec nad Nisou.

4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. City Council / meet in front of the town hall entrance

An experiential walk through the city centre with architect Kristýna Stará and members of the Jablonec City Architecture Office (KAM) on the fair sharing of public space. The walk will focus on the perception of public space from a woman's perspective – for example, safety, accessibility, and how the visual aspect affects people's behaviour in the city. During the event, visitors will learn how even small changes can cultivate the city and make it more pleasant for everyone.

The walk is organised in cooperation with the Strategic Planning Department and the City Architecture Office of Jablonec nad Nisou.

6:30–8:00 p.m. Printed Architecture: Women in Architecture / Vladimír's Serius Bookshop, Mírové nám. 11

The work of female architects in the second half of the 20th century with architectural historian Klára Brůhová, co-author of the project Women in Architecture. In her lecture, the author will present a publication that deals with the topic of women in Czech architecture in the second half of the 20th century, both from the perspective of architectural history and in an interdisciplinary context from the perspective of sociology, general history and gender studies. It focuses on the circumstances of female architects' practice and education, the connection between professional and family life, as well as reflection and recognition of women's creative work in the field.

The lecture is held in cooperation with Vladimír's bookshop Serius, with financial support from the Czech Architecture Foundation and the statutory city of Jablonec nad Nisou.

The main organiser of the nationwide Architecture Day festival is the Kruh, z.s. association.
