Karolína Kripnerová and Janek Rous – The Power of Decision

Vladimír’s Serius bookshop and the PLAC association, with financial support from the Czech Architecture Foundation and the City of Jablonec nad Nisou, cordially invite you to the 74th lecture in the ‘Printed Architecture’ series, which will take place on Friday 23 October at 6.30 pm.

Our guests on this occasion will be Karolína Kripnerová and Janek Rous, who, as leaders of the team of authors, will present the publication *Síla rozhodnutí – The Momentum of a Decision*.

This is an English-Czech book published by the Museum of Decorative Arts to mark the 24th Triennale of Design and Architecture in Milan, whose theme was ‘Inequalities’.

The authors have chosen to focus on the issue of homelessness. They view the housing system as a complex, living organism which, in today’s world, is clearly not functioning and is suffering. The situation is the same in all the world’s major cities; the only differences lie in the number of people in need, and the form and availability of social support. The exhibition’s creators view such metropolises as a ‘sick city’ – they envisage Prague as a laboratory for these problems, where we can choose to apply a range of tried-and-tested treatments currently at our disposal and attempt to heal it.

In addition to thematic texts by Janek Rouse and Karolína Kripnerová, it also features literary texts by those who frequently experience inequality in their everyday lives: Anki, Klára Vlasáková, the Prádelna Collective, Patrik Banga, Maria Siváková, Dana Lišková, Eva Danišová and Marie Iljašenko. The texts are accompanied by illustrations by Magdalena Rutová, with graphic design by Jan Čumlivský.
