- 55. The Blue Ribbon
Description of the event
Traditional competitions organised by Jablonec model boat builders. Both on the bank and on the water, you’ll see several dozen models of real ships, including small sailing boats.
PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME:
30 August : 55th BLUE RIBBON– Mšeno-Tajvan Reservoir; Jablonec nad Nisou; categories F2, F4, FOOTY; from 8.00 am to around 12.00 pm
The main attraction will be floating models of real boats. Those marked F2 are scale models, built by model-makers from various materials according to a model-making plan. F4 boats are models built from kits. For most of these, the quality of construction is assessed and a sailing test is carried out by navigating a prescribed course on a triangular track, including reversing and docking at the landing dock.
The so-called ‘FOOTYs’ will also be competing; these are small racing yachts with a simple rig. They too will sail a triangular course marked by buoys against the clock.
