59. The Jablonec Anchor

Traditional competitions organised by Jablonec’s model boat builders. Both on the bank and on the water, you will see several dozen models of real ships competing for prizes at the 59th Jablonec Anchor and 55th Blue Ribbon competitions. Small sailing boats will also be on display. 

PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME:

29 August : 59th JABLONECKÁ KOTVA – Mšeno-Tajvan Reservoir; Jablonec nad Nisou; categories F2, F4 + NIGHT COMPETITION + MiČR ‘FOOTY’ series; competition on the water from around 9.00 am until approximately 6.00 pm.

Night competition from 9.00 pm.

30 August : 55th MODRÁ STUHA– Mšeno-Tajvan Reservoir; Jablonec nad Nisou; categories F2, F4, FOOTY; from 8.00 until around 12.00

For the fifty-ninth time, model boat builders will gather on the Tajvan peninsula at the Jablonec reservoir to test their skills. This will take place on Saturday 29 August. The Jablonec Kotva competition will begin after 09.00, and model boats will take turns on the water practically all day, until around 18.00. After 21.00, there will be a night-time competition featuring illuminated models of real boats.

On Sunday 30 August, another traditional model-making gathering will take place. It will be held at the same venue, with competitors vying for the Jablonec Blue Ribbon. This will be the 55th edition. The models will be gliding across the surface of the reservoir throughout Sunday morning.

On display will be, in particular, floating models of real ships. Those marked F2 are scale models, built by modellers from various materials according to a model-making plan. F4 boats are models built from kits. For most of these, the quality of construction is assessed and a sailing test is carried out by navigating a prescribed course in a triangular circuit, including reversing and docking at the landing stage.

The so-called ‘FOOTYs’ will also be competing; these are small racing yachts with a simple rig. They too will sail a triangular course marked by buoys against the clock.
