Celebrations marking 160 years of Jablonec

160 years ago, Jablonec nad Nisou was granted town status. On Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September, this anniversary will be marked by a two-day event in the town centre. Look forward to a rich cultural programme, traditional craft markets and open historic sites.

The musical line-up features a mix of genres and moods performed by local bands from Jablonec. The stage in front of Jablonec Town Hall will host jazz, indie folk, soul, rumba, punk rock and classic country. Friday’s programme will culminate in an energetic show by the band Superhero Killers, whilst the Jablonec stop on the Karaoke Tour – part of the Game of YOLO project – will be a highlight for younger audiences. Saturday will feature gospel spirituals and the southern European flair of Ritmo Gitano.

A significant part of the programme also consists of original acrobatic and contemporary circus performances by the TUTOcirk, BoCirk and Vim kolektiv troupes, which will bring physical theatre, exaggeration and thought-provoking themes to the streets. The atmosphere will be complemented by a Ferris wheel offering views of Jablonec from above, as well as stalls selling handmade goods and refreshments.
