LANUGO

The band was formed around the singer-songwriter Markéta Foukalová and, since its inception, has been winning over listeners with its original blend of jazz, folk, chanson, electronic music and modern singer-songwriting.

Lanugo’s music stands out for its poetic Czech lyrics, sensitive arrangements and an unmistakable atmosphere that blends delicacy with energy and emotion. Lanugo performs regularly at clubs and festivals and has released several critically acclaimed albums since its formation. Audiences can look forward to a concert full of musical colour, powerful melodies and authentic expression, confirming the band’s exceptional standing on the Czech music scene. The band consists of singer Markéta Foukalová, pianist and producer Viliam Béreš, guitarist Mirek Šmilauer, double bassist Rastislav Uhrík, drummer Martin Kopřiva and percussionist Martin Novák. This ensemble of experienced musicians blends elements of pop, jazz, electronic and alternative music into a distinctive and atmospheric sound. Lanugo is celebrating twenty years on the scene this year and, after a seven-year hiatus, is releasing a new double album, “Lanugo, 2026”, which is being self-released on double vinyl. The concert, which doubled as the album launch, took place on 29 April at Archa+ in Prague. The double album “Lanugo, 2026” explores existential themes rooted in everyday life. On this album, the band once again blends acoustic and electronic elements, an intimate atmosphere and subtle musical inventiveness – the very qualities that have enabled them to carve out their own niche on the domestic scene over the past two decades. Lanugo offers music that speaks to both the heart and the imagination, leaving a lasting impression long after the final note has faded. And we’ve experienced this many times before, back when the band used to visit us at Klub Na Rampě. A truly wonderful experience.
