EDVARD BENEŠ’S TRIP TO JABLONEC NAD NISOU AND THE SURROUNDING AREA IN 1936 In August 1936, during his working visit to north-eastern Bohemia, President Edvard Beneš visited Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod. This lecture will outline the course of this carefully planned visit, including the speeches delivered at the time and any unexpected complications, and will also offer a comparison with Emperor Franz Joseph I’s journey to the same region thirty years earlier.
