Description of the event

The exhibition ‘North Wind Brings Colours’ presents a cross-section of contemporary art across various media – from drawings and prints through to objects, new technologies and multimedia forms.

The selected artists are linked by their connections to northern Bohemia, whether through their studies, professional background or personal ties to the Liberec and Jablonec regions.

The exhibition features both established artists with a prominent position on the Czech art scene and emerging artists whose work brings fresh impetus and perspectives. The common thread running through their work is their relationship with the region, which manifests itself in various ways – from landscape and space to personal experience and everyday life.

The project is a loose continuation of the 2023 exhibition *Northern Space. Space for Dialogue* and ties in with the programme of the Art Week Liberec festival, whose long-term aim is to support the region’s art scene.

*The North Wind Carries Colours* presents contemporary art as a space of flow – of ideas, experiences and visual languages that are constantly transforming and re-establishing themselves within the landscape of northern Bohemia. The curatorial concept is based on the metaphor of the north wind as an invisible yet defining force. Exhibitioncurators: Jana Bernartová, Dana Zikmundová

Participating artists: Nela Binder Maruškevič, Filip Dvořák, Zdenka Hušková, Jan Krtička, Jan Měřička, Jan Nálevka, Aleš Novák, Jana Válková Střílková, Filip Zeman
