Kaplička Gallery: Patricia Bačenková

The PLAC Association and Galerie Kaplička invite you to an exhibition by Patricia Bačenková.

Patricia Bačenková – a young Slovak artist – has created a concept for Galerie Kaplička in the form of a mobile light installation that works with the reflection and mirroring of the viewer themselves.

The exhibitionopening will take place on Wednesday 20 May at 6 pm.

After the opening, the exhibition will be viewable through a window in the door until 20 June.

About the exhibition

This work is dedicated to the memory of Václav Cigler.

Beauty is not up there, nor is it anywhere else in the world. It is within you, for beauty is the ability to see things differently.

Patrícia Bačenková(1997) holds a Master’s degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. During her studies, she also focused on glassmaking and developed her own technique for melting PVC film, which appears to be glass. She combines these materials with light to create light paintings, which are works of art in their own right. For the past three years, she has also been working as a lighting technician and lighting designer in galleries and theatres, where she works with other lighting technologies that she continues to utilise in her own work.

Radek Pytelka(1980) is a technician, lighting designer and sound engineer for a number of theatres and galleries. He has been collaborating on Lucie Nováčková’s artworks for many years. Since 2020, he has also been involved in exhibition installation, lighting and providing technical support for exhibiting artists. For Patrícia Bačenková’s current exhibition, he contributed to the development of the technology and its implementation.
