Organ concert by Jaroslav Tůma

After two years, Prof. Jaromír Tůma returns to Jablonec to play the grand concert organ at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Horní náměstí. We can look forward to a varied concert programme that will make full use of the sonic capabilities of the recently restored instrument. There will certainly be an organ improvisation based on a theme from one of the pieces in the concert programme.

Jaroslav Tůma was born in 1956. He is a concert organist and professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He also performs on the harpsichord, clavichord, pianoforte and other keyboard instruments.  He studied at the Prague Conservatory under Prof. Jaroslav Vodrážka and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Prof. Milan Šlechta (organ) and Prof. Zuzana Růžičková (harpsichord). He has won numerous prizes in organ competitions. He teaches at international organ courses and seminars. Tůma’s repertoire includes key works by Czech and international composers across a wide spectrum of styles, from the Renaissance to the 21st century. His discography comprises over fifty solo recordings.
