THE ROAD TO THE STARS

The second edition of the exhibition ‘Path to the Stars’ presents three more promising young artists who are successfully continuing their creative work even after completing their university studies. The event is taking place as part of the Jablonec 2026 International Triennial of Glass and Jewellery, whose aim is to present contemporary glass to the general public as a material with many uses, including artistic expression.

This time, the spotlight will be on Dominika Petrtýlová (*1995), Johan Pertl (*1991) andVlastimil Šenkýř (*1990), graduates of the glass studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, led by Prof. Rony Plesl, and his assistant Klára Horáčková, who are regularly recognised for their work in design competitions. However, having studied together was certainly not the criterion for the curatorial selection; rather, it was the diversity and variety of approaches to contemporary glass. Although Petrtýlová, Šenkýř and Pertl attended the same studio, their styles differ significantly. They experiment, making full use of their specific knowledge and skills, both craft-based and technological. They have transformed their acquired experience into a distinctive artistic expression that enriches the broad spectrum of Czech artistic glassmaking with further, remarkable nuances.
