DA PACEM - FOR PEACE

The Da Pacem project brings together the partner cities of Jablonec nad Nisou and Zwickau through music

The Janáček Mixed Choir and Chorvereinigung Sachsenring Zwickau have been working on their second joint project since 2023

have been working on their second joint project, this time entitled Da Pacem.

Both choirs have chosen to perform significant works by contemporary

living composers – The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace by composer K. Jenkins and Missa Brevis

Pastoralis by composer J. Pavlica. Each choir first rehearsed both masses separately

between September 2024 and May 2025. In May this year, both choirs met for a weekend

training camp in Jablonec nad Nisou, and the culmination of the preparations was the same training camp in Zwickau in

september.

The Da pacem project will be presented at the first concert in Zwickau on 25 October 2025 and

will culminate in a gala concert at the Municipal Theatre in Jablonec nad Nisou on 15 November

2025.This concert is dedicated to the celebration of the national holiday, Freedom and Democracy Day.

Da Pacem is the result of excellent cooperation between choirs and is the largest project

of its kind in the history of the Janáček Choir. Its significance and artistic level are evidenced by

the current situation in the world, the anti-war text of Jenkins' Mass and the premiere of Pavlica's Mass in Germany,

which will be attended by the composer himself. Both concerts will feature 110 singers ,

a symphony orchestra and soloists.
