Description of the event

A film about two friends and a packed Letná Park. In 2019, nearly 300,000 people gathered in Prague's Letná Park. They demonstrated against the prime minister and the president, but above all for democracy. Two students who feared for the future of the Czech Republic spoke to them from the stage. This unique film about Mikuláš Minář and Benjamin Roll reveals the compelling story of the founders of the Million Moments for Democracy movement. For six years, the director filmed behind the scenes of the association that was behind the largest protest since the Velvet Revolution. It went through successes and failures, enthusiasm and lethargy, being praised to the skies and disappointment from its supporters. And Mik and Ben experienced all of this from the beginning. Boys who believed that even in difficult times, hope can prevail.

Czechia | 2025 | 89 min Director: Amálie Kovářová

We are screening this film as part of the "DESE(T) K VOLBÁM" campaign by the Million Moments for Democracy association. The film will be followed by a live discussion from Prague, in which the director of Moments of Hope, Amálie Kovářová, and the director of The Great Patriotic Trip, Robin Kvapil, will join Lukáš Hilpert and Mikuláš Minář to talk about how we can build on both films and draw inspiration from them at this crucial moment before the elections.
