Description of the event

Screening of a documentary film as part of the KineDok project, followed by a discussion among viewers. In Hungary, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, young people see a world full of new possibilities, but at the same time realise that without money, their dreams of adventure remain out of reach. The film follows three young men, Ákos, Petyu and Laci, who decide to change this, both for themselves and for their peers. Their personal initiative gradually gives rise to an extensive underground network of counterfeiters, sellers and buyers. Their tickets are cheaper than the official ones, but there is one strict rule: never reveal where the tickets come from.

The Blue Pelican is the first Hungarian film to innovatively combine animation with documentary, capturing the spirit of freedom and the desire for adventure after decades of censorship and control.
