ABOUT THE CITY IN A DIFFERENT WAY: The city as a biotope

Geobotanist Jan Albert Šturma focuses on landscape ecology and the ecology of plant communities – in a geographical and historical context. He is co-author ofthe book Divoká příroda Prahy a blízkého okolí (The Wild Nature of Prague and its Surroundings), subtitled A Guide to the Part of Prague's Nature that Nobody Cares About, Few People Know About, and Almost Nobody Likes  ( Academia, Dokořán 2015) and the book Planeta Praha (Planet Prague) (Jakost , 2023).

Jan Albert Šturma is a botanist and social ecologist. He teaches at the Faculty of Humanities at Charles University in Prague. He focuses on landscape ecology and the ecology of plant communities in a geographical and historical context. He is interested in topics such as brownfields and urban landscapes, scrubland, landscape diversity, interdisciplinary research and environmental art.
