Description of the place

The new exhibition space of the Ahoj Nazdar Čau Gallery in the display cases at the bus station was created in cooperation with the statutory city of Jablonec n. N. The gallery in this specific space under the large roof of the outdoor waiting room has not only six display windows originally intended for timetables, but also a four-metre space for murals. Bringing art into public spaces is a long-term strategy of Galerie Ahoj Nazdar Čau, which has been operating in the display windows of the Varšava cinema in Liberec since 2014. The gallery has been operating as an independent exhibition project for even longer, holding exhibitions in various locations with the aim of presenting contemporary young artists. Many people pass through the bus station every day, and the opportunity to pause and reflect on a work of art, making the wait more pleasant and providing food for thought, was definitely lacking in these spaces. In the past, Gumák was the nickname given to the pub on the ground floor of the building behind the covered waiting room, and the gallery borrowed this popular name as a reminder of the local forgotten history.
