The ‘L’ Exhibition by Jana V. Střílková

An exhibition with the enigmatic title ‘L’ will present a cross-section of the work of jewellery artist and teacher Jana V. Střílková. She works with natural or found materials, reflecting on her own experiences as a shepherdess (without any romantic or philosophical overtones) living in the rugged landscape between pasture and forest. Jewellery made from hay, wool from her own sheep, bones and pine needles is a genuine expression of reverence for life and nature. It reflects respect for the inevitability of nature’s cycles of creation and decay, occasionally accentuated by a layer of gold. More recently, drawing on her work in the glass and jewellery studio, the artist has been exploring glass, whose sparkle and artisanal perfection she envelops in felted wool. The biodegradable exhibits, installed on fragile glass panels within the concrete interior of Galerie N in Jablonec nad Nisou, are accompanied by texts by the writer Pavla Melková.
