Jana Machatová and Peter Machata: Time Collection

For Jana Machatová and Petr Machata, jewellery is a medium of participation, an artistic practice through which they have long been exploring the communicative, semantic and identity-forming potential of designer jewellery. Through the complex space of wearable brooches and pendants, drawing on material and technological experimentation as well as the fundamentals of the goldsmith’s craft, they confront us (and themselves) with what we value, what we long for and what we fear – in their lived, engaged and fragmented visual scenarios, they engage in a constant and critical dialogue on the temporalities of memory and identity.
