GONG BATH - therapy

GONG BATH - therapy

Description of the event

I’m sure everyone has a bath on their self-care list; it’s a routine part of self-care. Soaking in a warm, steamy bath is a popular way to relax after a long day.

Part of the Gong Bath is the Nabhi Purana technique – a healing treatment in which warm oil is poured onto the navel. This technique nourishes the internal organs, aids digestion, harmonises the digestive fire, and is used to balance dryness in the body or to calm the nervous system. Combined with the Gong Bath, this treatment is deeply healing.

This technique is optional during the Gong Bath; if you don’t wish to, you can simply enjoy the bath.

Gong baths have a similar effect

Sound is vibrational energy that can be wonderfully healing when combined with the right intention. It can help you relax and thus reduce stress levels. The sound of gongs, and sound in general, helps you relax your conscious mind and reach a state of alpha and theta brain waves, which support a deeper process of relaxation during which healing takes place.

Gong baths are a form of passive meditation in which you ‘bathe’ in the healing vibrations of sound.

The use of sound as a form of healing dates back to ancient cultures. Records of the use of gongs have been found as far back as ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman times.

Evidence suggests that the manufacture of gongs was known as early as 4000 BC, and ancient alchemical sources mention gongs dating back to 16,000 BC.

Gong baths take place either individually or in a group and usually last between 45 minutes and 2 hours.

During a gong bath, participants lie down and make themselves comfortable with blankets and pillows. The gong master then strikes the gong with a mallet. Participants are invited to passively absorb the benefits of the sound.

Effects of a gong bath:

- helps to clear the mind

- can reduce stress and heal the endocrine system

- heals the nervous system

- improves the body’s immunity

- boosts the body’s energy

- excellent as a source of energy following illness, chronic fatigue syndrome or burnout
