A TITANIC JOURNEY THROUGH THAILAND: FROM THE CAPITAL TO THE WAVES

A travel talk by experienced bikepackers who cycled the route from Bangkok to Surat Thani and on to the Thai islands – without a support vehicle, just with bikepacking bags, titanium frames and a desire to experience Thailand differently from a resort. It offers a practical insight into planning a ‘lightweight’ expedition, the raw reality beyond tourist maps, technical details on equipment, and stories from the road, where the best food is often found in an inconspicuous, out-of-the-way pub. Pedalling along were Misha Pekárek, the expedition’s mastermind, who’ll happily make you cycle up a hill three times for better light, Jan Čechtický, a musician who manages both the pace and vlogging, Lydie Charouzová, proof that you can cycle from your sofa to the ends of the earth, and Radek Hipsch, who, without a driving licence, finally felt like a true road pirate.
