Description of the event

The second edition of the ‘Journey to the Stars’ exhibition presents a further three promising young artists who are successfully continuing their creative work even after completing their university studies. The event is taking place as part of the Jablonec 2026 International Triennial of Glass and Jewellery, which aims to introduce the general public to contemporary glass as a material with many uses, including artistic expression.

This time, the spotlight will be on Dominika Petrtýlová (*1995), Johan Pertl (*1991) andVlastimil Šenkýř (*1990), graduates of the glass studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, led by Prof. Rony Plesl, academic sculptor, and assisted by Mg.A. Klára Horáčková, who are regularly recognised for their work in design competitions. Rona Plesl and his assistant Mg.A. Klára Horáčková.

However, having studied together was by no means the criterion for the curators’ selection; rather, it was the diversity and variety of approaches to contemporary glass. Although Petrtýlová, Šenkýř and Pertl attended the same studio, their artistic styles differ markedly. They experiment, making full use of their specific knowledge and skills, both artisanal and technological. They have transformed the experience they have gained into a distinctive artistic expression that enriches the broad spectrum of Czech artistic glassmaking with further remarkable nuances.
