Description of the event

Experience a musical and literary evening with the Kafka Band, which will take place at the Eurocentrum in Jablonec on Friday, 7 November, starting at 8 p.m. For the third time, the band draws inspiration from the work of Franz Kafka – this time from his novel The Trial. At the concert, as on the album The Trial released in 2023, music intertwines with literature, Czech with German, and dark moments with absurd humour. Kafka wrote in German, but he also knew Czech well. Today, writer Jaroslav Rudiš also writes in both languages, singing and reciting texts on stage together with singer and artist Jaromír 99. Both also write them – drawing directly from Kafka's work or freely inspired by it, just like the musicians. About the band: Kafka Band is a musical-literary project from Prague that works with the work of writer Franz Kafka in its creations. It translates this into an alternative rock form. Writer Jaroslav Rudiš and artist and musician Jaromír 99, authors of the cult comic book Alois Nebel, came together to collaborate on this project. The band plays with guitarist and producer Dušan Neuwerth and other musicians: Tomáš Neuwerth, Lukáš Morávek, Zdeněk Jurčík, and Petr Weiser. The lyrics are taken directly from Kafka's work. Following the albums Das Schloss and Amerika, a new album, Der Process, was released in September 2023.
