Description of the place

The dam is located near the centre of Jablonec nad Nisou and is the largest urban water area in Central Europe. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century to protect residents from flooding. Today, it is a technical monument and a great place for swimming, sports and relaxation. It falls under the state-owned company Povodí Labe. Admission is free.

The beaches are grassy or covered with small pebbles, and the entrance to the water is gentle in some places and very steep in others. In the immediate vicinity, there are running trails, beach volleyball courts, children's climbing frames, a public fireplace, outdoor fitness equipment, and asphalt pitches for football, tennis, and basketball, as well as numerous refreshment stands and several restaurants. During the summer season, toilets and outdoor showers are available free of charge. Water sports enthusiasts can take advantage of paddleboard rentals. Dogs are allowed to swim year-round in the 2nd and 3rd reservoirs (map). In the main reservoir, it is only allowed from 1 September to 30 April.
