Description of the place

The House of Czech-German Understanding in Rýnovice is a cultural monument. The building from the second half of the 17th century is one of the oldest buildings in Jablonec nad Nisou. This example of folk architecture was saved from demolition by Franz Rieger, a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany and a native of Lukášov.

Since 1998, the house has been home to the Czech-German Meeting Centre. The gallery with a café provides a space for meetings, open dialogue, the presentation of Czech-German culture and the popularisation of historical topics, and cooperates with partner cities.

The house organises about ten exhibitions a year. Its programme also includes German language courses for children, beginners and advanced learners, lectures, literary evenings and concerts. More than 4,000 people visit Rieger House every year.
